You can use the Associate Child Theme straight out of the box. All you need are the two Custom Menus, one for the Header and one for the Sidebar, and just place whatever you like in the Sidebar.
Or you can use the Genesis widgets for a very different look.
Here’s what the Genesis widgets look like in the Associate Child theme.
Let’s start with the Featured widget. First you will need images (at least 3 images) at maximum 600 X 400 pixels or roundabout. (Images which are 600p in width across work best in WordPress). If you don’t have at least 3 posts with images like this then create them.
Create a category called ‘Featured’ and assign those posts with the images to that category.
Drag the Genesis Slider widget across to the Featured spot.
Now we’ll set the Genesis Slider. You can follow the link from the Slider widget or go to Dashboard >> Genesis >> Slider Settings
Open up the Slider Settings
